Michigan has been getting poorer, smaller and less competitive. Our unemployment rate leads the nation. While much has been done to strengthen our state and to improve the economy, much work remains – as per capital income is still 13% below the national average and many are out of work. The fact that Michigan ranks average to below average on many of the factors that drive job creation continues to hold our state back. Incremental changes will not grow the state’s economy. Only a complete, transformative strategy will do the job.
